Where I started...
I got my start as a designer working on my high school newspaper, "the Bullhorn". I was editor-in-chief, which really meant my job was to fill in all the missing parts that the newspaper needed to make its print deadline. As is typical with any high school, there were a lot of students had something to say, so editorial content was never a problem. However, we didn't have a single person on our staff that knew how to lay out a page. So I spent countless nights working in Adobe Pagemaker on a Mac that probably had RAM that measured in kilobytes. Out of "necessity" rose an opportunity, and that "opportunity" indirectly became a career.
Fast forward to today. While I don't exactly do a lot of print layout anymore, the result is similar: delivering information to users as quickly and intuitively as possible. Designing things to me is not just about making the trip from point A to point B as fast as possible, but also informative and enjoyable as possible as well.
I graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Business. I majored in finance. Needless to say I'm really good with spreadsheets :-) After college I started a business in the home automation sector. During the following 3 years I learned a tremendous amount about integrating technology together, networking, and touchscreen user interfaces.
In 2006, I met my lovely wife Kelly. We got married in 2010. She's a doctor at the IU medical center here in Indianapolis. She does a much more difficult job than I do, and I'm very thankful for her every single day. Just last year my daughter was born. Being a dad is an incredible experience, and my daughter is the most important person in the world to me.
